A Better Start Southend

Southend Borough Council wants Southend-on-Sea to be known as the best place in the country to bring up a child and to be a parent, by creating a community that welcomes every baby and ensures they have the best deal possible. To this end they devised the initiative ‘A Better Start Southend’ which aims to provide children living in Southend with a better start in life.


PAGE was delighted to be invited by Southend Council to advise on how best to present their lottery bid to raise funding for the new A Better Start scheme. Our design input made the content more engaging and professional to best demonstrate Southend’s commitment to the project.

The council were successful in their bid and PAGE attended initial focus group meetings to develop the strategy and production of documentation and communications to assist in the launch of this brand new service.

The development of the ‘A Better Start Southend’ brand followed, with the creation of the logo, assorted marketing material, website and event collateral. We compiled a usage Guideline document for the brand identity for A Better Start Southend to assist individuals and partners in communicating with a consistent style.

Subsequently Page successfully won a competitive tender to design and develop a website for the initiative with a dedicated SEO strategy.

PAGE has worked with us and our community to develop a brand identity that is reflective of a number of complex and varied outcomes. They took on board the feedback from residents and built this into the final brand. The process was straight forward and delivered to the agreed timescale. They have since developed promotional materials and dressing for us with an eye-catching design to make us stand out among other organisations.
